WINE & WAX
Often wine, wax, punch
and other assorted food and decorating items end up on the carpet
and furnishings. It happens to everyone!
When the liquid portion
happens, I want you to think first of DRY TOWELS and BLOT, BLOT,
BLOT, BLOT until no more color comes up. Then, and only then, do
you reach for the water or the spotter bottle.
Carpets and upholstery
items have some form of soil protectant on them and will resist
staining in the first few minutes of liquid contact. When you add
the spotter you add a surfactant that makes that liquid "wetter"
and it will spread and soak in fast.
Wax, you may or may not
want to tackle as it requires heat and a dry towel (or that old
familiar brown paper grocery bag). If you know for sure your carpet
is NYLON, you are fairly safe in using the steam ireon on low steam
setting, without the steam. Place a towel or bag over the wax with
the iron on top for 30-45 seconds and check to see if the wax has
transferred. If so, stop!
NOTE: Colored wax - you
will not be able to remove the color.
